Will LCS Super Week be a nail in some team's coffin?

The second of three Super Weeks takes off today at 17:00 CET. Twice the usual number of matches means you get just shy of a whole week full of top-notch League action as the Super Week continues across the Atlantic Ocean on Friday. LCS draws closer to the home straight with every week - after this one, only a couple of matches are left before the standings are decided.

While a better spot in the top six could ensure a potentially easier opponent in the playoffs, any top six position is still a playoff spot, giving holders a fair chance of becoming Spring Champion. However, the real threat before that, as those in seventh and eighth place will have to fight aspiring teams rising from the Challenger Series for their right to stay in the LCS.

  1st - Roccat

3rd - SK Gaming

5:11

Currently, those teams will be Millenium and Alliance, two of this season's new names but both with experienced rosters nonetheless. Apparently Alliance is not the dominating super team the community and team captain Froggen insisted it was before the season. Contrary to the performances of these two teams, Spring's newcomers performed phenomenally, especially Roccat, whose players exceeded all expectations by topping the standings for three weeks in a row.

However, almost anything is still possible. There is still a good chance for all eight competitors to get into the playoffs, and even the biggest problem child seems to recover last week. Fnatic, LCS's league leader of the first four weeks, won their first match last week after a barren run of eight consecutive losses. Fnatic, meanwhile, might remember last Super Week fondly after getting a perfect four wins out of four matches.

Week 8, the second Super Week of LCS Europe, kicks off at 17:00 CET today until Thursday - be sure to tune in at lolesports.com.
