The 11th of April 2015 marked the first Mortal Kombat X tournament. Eight professional players were invited to battle it out for a total prize pool of US$10,000:

- Christian “KiT Forever King” Quiles as Kung Jin
- Elijah “Tyrant” Williamson as Jax
- Dominique “Sonic Fox” McLean as Erron Black
- Carl “Perfect Legend” White as Kung Lao
- Ryan “Ketchup” Neal as Quan Chi
- Tony “TONY-T” Pert as Raiden
- Ryan “Prodigal Son” Hart as Kung Jin
The formula was single elimination and best of nine matches. To add to an already great show, players were drafted into different Mortal Kombat X factions.
With such an impressive lineup, we were bound to see tons of exciting action. The players showcased a true display of skill in a series of thrilling matches, delivering multiple fatalities and brutalities for us to enjoy.
The grand finale was played between Sonic Fox’s Erron Black and MIT’s Scorpion. Fox left no room for doubt as he defeated MIT in a 5:0 victory earning himself the first Mortal Kombat X Champion title.

The Fatal 8 tournament is just the beginning of the ESL MKX Pro League where players can compete and test their skills in weekly EU, NA and CIS tournaments worth US$1,000 each. The season will end in Grand Finals which will take place on July 11th with a prize pool of at least US$50,000.
