The champion of the Heroes of the Storm Europe Regional UK in Leicester has been found!

Last weekend, eight of the world’s best Heroes of the Storm teams met at the ESL studios in Leicester for the Heroes of the Storm Europe Regional UK to compete for its US$100,000 prize pool as well as a place in the Global Summer Championship at DreamHack Summer. Even though the favorites dominated once more, the tournament had a lot of action to offer and showcased some big plays over the three-day event.

The group stage

In Group A it was mYinsanity and Team Liquid who set the pace, winning their opening matches 2-0. Both the winners’ and elimination matches went the full distance, seeing mYinsanity and Casual Logic Gaming besting Liquid and Silenced Monkeys respectively by 2-1. In the decider match, it was Team Liquid who went 2-0 over Casual Logic to follow mYinsanity into the playoffs.

Group B was more straightforward, with all the games seeing clear 2-0s for the winners and Team Dignitas and Fnatic taking the upper hand over Team Sandwich Monkey and Natus Vincere respectively. While Dignitas sent Fnatic down to the decider match, Na’Vi came back from the opening loss and sent TSaM packing. Fnatic came back strong from their loss, beating Na’Vi to claim the last place in the playoffs.

The playoffs

With only one change compared with the last European Regional in Katowice, the playoffs featured four big names that most fans had on their lists. Team Dignitas underlined their ambitions for the title with a clear 3-0 victory over Team Liquid and advancing to the final as the first team. mYinsanity was the second team to advance to the grand final, taking out Fnatic in a 3-1 series, making a rematch of the Katowice grand final into a reality. Here it was Team Dignitas setting the pace once more, taking the home turf title for Bakery and Snitch with another 3-0 victory.

Congratulations, Team Dignitas!

By winning two European Regionals back to back, Team Dignitas is now the first team set for the Global Summer Championship at DreamHack Summer, set to take place from 18th to 21st of June in Jönköping, Sweden. They once more showed their strength and are definitely the team to beat in the European region!

In less than three weeks, the other European teams will get a chance to vie for the second spot at the DreamHack All-Stars in Tours, France. With another US$100,000 on the line, the race for the second European slot in the Global Championship will bring us even more nailbiting Heroes of the Storm action!
