The leading esports virtual reality streaming platform, SLIVER.tv, is set to provide top of the line VR broadcasts for 2017’s ESL One and IEM competitions, thanks to a new, broad-reaching partnership. The cooperation will allow all fans and spectators of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends and Dota 2 to watch their favorite teams in immersive 360° VR.
After debuting their VR tournament platform at past events such as ESL One New York and Intel Extreme Masters Oakland, SLIVER.tv is looking to build on the recent success, with more than 130,000 unique viewers tuning into Intel Extreme Masters Oakland’s VR streams.
Stuart Ewen, Product Manager of ESL, is excited to build on last year’s success.
“Our partnership with SLIVER.tv at ESL One New York and IEM Oakland last year exceeded our expectations, and our fans, teams and players were blown away by the first-ever live broadcast of CS:GO and League of Legends in VR. We are delighted to partner with SLIVER.tv this year across 7 events starting with Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland where in 2016 we saw over 100,000 attendees and nearly two million peak concurrent online viewers. With the help of SLIVER.tv we hope 2017 will be even bigger and better.”
Aside from Intel Extreme Masters Katowice, the partnership will also cover ESL One Cologne in July, five additional yet to be announced ESL events and seven further DreamHack tournaments over the course of the year. Fans at the events will be able to test out the VR experience on site, as SLIVER.tv will be present at all events to showcase their technology to whoever wants a 360° look into live esports.
Mitch Liu, founder and CEO of SLIVER.tv, is looking forward to the extended esports involvement in 2017.
“We are thrilled to be working closely with two of the largest esports tourney organizers in the world in 2017. Our vision is to forever transform the esports spectating experience by providing new perspectives and insights into live esports streams. In partnering with ESL and DreamHack across these 14 global events, we have the opportunity to showcase our 360 virtual reality, live replays and stats technology to millions of esports fans worldwide.”
