In week 5 of GameStop Hometown Heroes: Injustice 2 we stopped in to see how Atlanta’s top talent performed, which means we have made it halfway through the series! Players from Georgia and neighboring Tennessee duked it out to claim the spot of grand champion.
The matches started off strong with our second Harley Quinn of the series coming from Trepound, who managed to get two rounds on Burritos’ Green Arrow before finally accepting defeat.

In an evening full of firsts, we experienced our first Superman mirror match of the season, with Noble Tweedy against Skate Bravo. In an attempt to take victory, Skate Bravo brought out Swampthing, his secret weapon, but it proved to be too little too late. In the end, Tweedy moved on in the bracket.

That wasn’t the last we saw of Skate Bravo’s Swampthing - it came out against Pig of the Hut’s Atrocitus, giving us a big body matchup. The match went 3-0 in favor of Pig, but Skate Bravo gets the honor of having stuck with his main through the thick of it.

In what was a very perfectly-timed finish, Trepound’s Harley, with the help of her hyena’s, took the match 3-0 against UPR Nova’s Aquaman.

The closest match of the night came from from Pig of the Hut’s Atrocitus against Trepound’s Harley, and his Supergirl. It was nearly a reverse sweep from Pig, but Trepound proved him and his Harley are the dream team. He took the win after going to a round five.

Tweedy pushed Burritos, Atlanta’s top player, down to losers and secured his spot in grand finals, going 3-0. Tweedy has thus far made it through the competition without a loss.

Burritos had a chance to seek revenge from Tweedy as he made his way to grand finals, but it is Tweedy who managed to take the title of Atlanta Grand Champion for the games this week. Although Burritos had more points than anyone in the region, Tweedy showed up for his first week with nothing but victory on his mind. Even by pushing Burritos to change to Wonder Woman, it wasn’t enough and Tweedy was crowned the grand champion of the week!
