As such, we are incredibly pleased to announce updates to our on-air talent roster, namely having legendary British casting duo Joe Miller and Leigh “Deman” Smith together under the ESL banner!
Joe Miller
Joe Miller has been with ESL since 2008, and was previously a lead commentator for Riot Games’ European League of Legends Championship Series. Having renewed his contract, we’re proud to reveal that he is now stepping up into a new role within the company: director of content at ESL TV.
Joe had the following to say about this latest step in his esports career:
“I’m thrilled to be renewing my contract at ESL. The company has helped me develop into what I am today, and in my new position as director of content at ESL TV I will be able to offer my guidance and experience to our already outstanding team of commentators.”
Leigh “Deman” Smith
Former Rioter Leigh “Deman” Smith is an esports legend and long-time League of Legends Championship Series commentator, and we’re thrilled to announced that he’ll be joining ESL full time at our headquarters in Cologne, Germany.
Leigh said of joining the ESL team:
"Having worked with and alongside ESL for the last four years, I'm looking forward to joining their excellent casting team. The opportunity to cover not just one game but many for years to come was too hard to resist."
The dynamic duo
The British pair have over 20 years of combined on-air experience, and are widely recognized as one of esport’s most seasoned commentary duos. Their first duo cast, which was for Battlefield 1942, took place over ten years ago at the Basse-LAN in Denmark, and since then Joe and Leigh have worked together on such events as Intel Extreme Masters, the League of Legends Championship Series and more.
