The second season of the ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League will be kicking off on November the 1st after its successful inaugural season.
We can expect a truly international lineup, with players from Europe, North America and CIS battling for supremacy, and with the start of the new ESL Pro League season we are excited to reveal an all-new Mortal Kombat X game integration system developed as part of a partnership between ESL Technology and NetherRealm Studios.
Ed Boon, the creative director of NetherRealm Studios and co-creator of Mortal Kombat said:
“ESL MKX Pro League Season 1 showcased a lot of incredible matchups, and the team at NetherRealm Studios is happy to be working with ESL for Season 2. It will be great to see how the competition pans out.”
We also caught up with Andreas Hofmann, software developer at ESL, who had the following to say about the integration system:
“Integrating Mortal Kombat X into our online infrastructure is one of the many things that we are working on at ESL. It has been a pleasure to work with NetherRealm Studios on making it a reality as it really does a lot to simplify the current processes surrounding competition. Previously players had to struggle with multiple devices and manually submit their results. Now, ESL’s competitive solution seamlessly pairs you with an opponent connected to the Xbox Live servers and will automatically submit the match outcomes to the ESL Play website.”
The new game integration will be used for all ESL competitions from ESL Opens to ESL Pro level play - all that is needed is the ESL App on Xbox Live.
