Of all the places this year’s FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) could be hosted, Brazil is undoubtedly the most fitting.
Already the site of the 2014 FIFA World Cup proper, twenty of the world’s best FIFA 14 players will also be heading to sunny Rio de Janeiro on the 2nd and 3rd of July into order to compete for a whopping US$20,000 first prize check, two tickets to the next FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala and the prestige of being named FIFA Interactive World Cup 2014 champion.
With plenty to fight for, the heat - beyond that of the Brazilian sun - is on!
A producer’s perspective
Matt Prior, lead producer of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, expressed his excitement in a recent interview with FIFA.com, pointing out how “cities and towns all over the world grind to a halt while everyone watches the World Cup!”
He also had some advice to offer the competitors:
“Practice, practice, practice! Don’t just rely on your FIFA 14 abilities to get you through. You need to reinvent your game plan. What you learnt on FIFA 14 might not work on the World Cup game.”
Matt also gave his opinions on some of the grand finalists’ two submitted national teams for the tournament, which have been being revealed on the FIFA Interactive World Cup Facebook page daily. When asked for his top two, he said:
“If there’s one that stands out as a bit of an eye raiser I would say Belgium. They’ve got a great goalkeeper, and of course Vincent Kompany and Hazard. They’re quite a young and fast team. It’s one of the two teams I would choose. I think man-for-man Argentina is a better team than Brazil so I could see finalists picking them. There’s plenty to choose from in this game.”
