We’ve made a few changes to the schedule for ESL One Frankfurt this year. On top of there being a best of five grand final, we will also see a round of seeding matches unfold before the main event to ensure an unbiased seeding for the first round of the tournament.
The seeding bracket
In order to figure out the first round matchups at the main event, all participating teams will undergo a best of one seeding bracket two days before the official start of ESL One Frankfurt, as shown in the graphic below. The initial seeding matchups are determined by the teams’ joinDOTA rankings.
Thursday, June 18th (all times in CEST)
- 10:00 - 11:00: Evil Geniuses vs. Invictus Gaming / Team Secret vs. Alliance
- 11:20 - 12:20: Cloud 9 vs. Virtus.Pro / Vici Gaming vs. Fnatic
- 12:35 - 13:35: Upper bracket match E / Upper bracket match F
- 13:50 - 14:50: Lower bracket match H / Lower bracket match I
- 15:05 - 16:05: Lower bracket match J
- 16:20 - 17:20: Lower bracket match K
- 17:35 - 18:35: Lower bracket decider match L
- 18:50 - 19:50: Upper bracket decider match G
Starting times may vary due to game length.
All the seeding and main event matches will be viewable with the DotaTV ESL One Event ticket, which is available from the in-game store for US$1.99. Coverage of the seeding games will be provided for selected matches from the ESL Studios, while other matches will be streamed by selected streaming partners and community streamers.
The main event
The main event will play out on the weekend of June the 20th to the 21st and feature a best of three single elimination bracket, with the grand finals being played as a best of five. The top four seeds from the seeding bracket will pick their respective first round opponents in descending order (#1 seed first pick, #2 seed second pick, etc.). The top two seed will not face each other in the bracket until the grand finals.

Sunday, June 21st (all times in CEST)
- 9:00: Admission
- 10:15 - 13:15: Semifinal #1 - Winner of QF #1 vs. Winner of QF #2
- 13:30 - 16:30: Semifinal #2 - Winner of QF #3 vs. Winner of QF #4
- 16:45 - 21:45: Grand final
