The finalists of the StarCraft II World Championship Series Season 1 in Europe and America have been determined following an incredible third day of StarCraft action here at the ESL studios in Cologne, Germany.
WCS Europe: A Grand Final that might prove to become a classic?
Two epic PvT series were had today between jjakji and MMC as well as MMA and San. MC, who is looking to be back to his old strength, managed to defeat jjakji and move on to the Grand Final. Joining him there will be the very same player who already gave him a hard time in last year’s third season: MMA. Back in the 2013 WCS Season 3, the two former GSL champions faced off in the Grand Final. Of course, then MMA beat the Bosstoss 4-2. Will it look different this time around?
WCS America: A magical Grand Final is up ahead
The semifinals in WCS America kicked off with HyuN vs. Alicia. The Zerg player managed to overcome the incredibly consistent Protoss in a convincing 3-0 series. In the second series, between Oz and Revival, it looked like Oz could pull off the exact same thing as he went up 2-0. Revival managed to pull it back to make it a 2-2, making it look like a potential ZvZ final, but Oz’s calm play turned the last map into his favor and earned him the victory. The Protoss player will now face HyuN in the WCS America Season 1 Grand Final - can he beat him and seize his first ever premier tournament win?
Both the WCS America and Europe Grand Finals will take place tomorrow, starting with the pre-show at 20:00 CEST. Will MMA defend his title? And can Oz get himself his very first premier title? Tune in tomorrow as the best players in Europe and America face off to determine the first season’s champion!
