The Dubai Museum and Al Fahidi Fort was erected in around 1787, having become a museum in 1971, and is the perfect place to learn more about the city’s past. You can also visit some of Dubai’s more traditional areas such as the Bastakia Quarter in Bur Dubai, which was originally built in the late 19th century by Persian merchants.

With all its sun, a trip to the beach during a stay in Dubai is a must. If you’re staying in one of the hotels on the strip, Jumeirah beach should be first port of call. If not, there’s the Al Mamzar public beach as well the Jumeirah Beach Park with its small entry fee and Umm Suqeim, also known as Kite Beach due to its popularity with kite surfers.
