Starting with the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters at gamescom, ESL is pleased to announce that it will be working with video sharing platform Plays.tv in order to provide fans with unprecedented access to the action. For the first time, ESL will be capturing point of view (POV) footage – including audio – of every participating Intel Extreme Masters player, with highlights of the tournament being made available exclusively on Plays.tv.
Nik Adams, Vice President of Sales said of the partnership’s possibilities:
“Plays.tv has made it fast and easy to capture and upload video directly from the tournament PCs, and we’re excited to provide esports fans with a new viewing experience. Now, even if you followed the action live on Twitch, you’ll also be able to watch highlight videos which will show you the point of view of the players as the moments unfolded.”
The full POV streams will not be available to the public, but highlight clips with the best moments as well as top plays from the day’s matches will be released at the end of the tournament.
Dennis “Thresh” Fong, original professional gamer and founder and CEO of Plays.tv’s parent company Raptr, said of the company’s partnership with ESL:
“ESL and esports are a perfect fit on Plays.tv, which already has a large, active community of pro and amateur players. We and ESL believe that the key to continued explosive growth of eSports is enhancing the spectator experience and creating new ways for fans to engage with the pros, and this is a big step in that direction.”
