The first event of Season 10 of the Intel Extreme Masters came to its conclusion today. Yesterday saw Classic lift the StarCraft II trophy after an outstanding performance, but today was Heroes of the Storm’s debut at Intel Extreme Masters with a four-team invitational. Teams from Europe, South Korea and China traveled to Shenzhen to battle it out for the first Intel Extreme Masters Heroes of the Storm title as well as their share of a US$10,000 prize pool.
The tournament began with Virtus.pro facing Newbee. The Europeans allowed the Chinese no chances and took the series 2-0, thus securing the first slot in the final. You can see the highlights of this decisive match below!
The second semifinal was between Korean team MVP Black and the Chinese Brave Heart. MVP Black showed dominance from the very beginning and took the first match at only 11 minutes. The second match also went to the Koreans, with them advancing to the finals to face Virtus.pro.
The grand final came down to Europe versus Korea - Virtus.pro versus MVP Black. However, MVP Black left no room for doubt as they defeated Virtus.pro 2-0 and claimed the first Intel Extreme Masters Heroes of the Storm championship title.
