There was way more than just the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship going on in Katowice. At the ESL Heroes of the Storm Spring Regional, teams from all over Europe fought for the lion’s share of a US$100,000 prize pool as well as two spots for the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship this spring.
After what turned out to be a very close group stage that saw many games running into the full three maps, it was mYinsanity and Fnatic who took first place in their respective groups while Team Dignitas and Virtus.pro lost one match each before going on to take the final two. In the semifinals it was mYinsanity (2-1 over Virtus.pro) and Team Dignitas (2-0 over Fnatic) who came out on top, and met once more in the grand final. Here Team Dignitas made the 0-2 loss from their group stage match forgotten as they took down mYinsanity with a clear 3-0 scoreline - congratulations Dignitas!
A lot of action went down during the two-day tournament in Katowice - check out some of our favorite plays below!
