The Guild Wars 2 Pro League is back with Match Day 5!

The Guild Wars 2 Pro League is finally back, complete with new patch updates, and our teams have returned to fight for their share of the $200,000 prize pool!

With a new patch comes new changes to the meta, and Daniel “Jebro“ Littleton expressed his feelings on how this would affect the classes. “It looks fairly likely that Thief will make it into the meta, but the 5th slot is fairly undecided...thief is a good pickup, IF they have a good thief player.”

Let’s check in and see how the pros are handling the updates!

MATCH DAY 5 EU
Vermilion 2 - 0 Super Smash
Rank Fifty Five Dragons 2 - 0 Purple Noise
Orange Logo 0 - 2 The Civilized Gentlemen
Car Crashed 0 - 2 More Guns Than Roses

The EU competitors were out for blood this week, with Vermilion, Rank Fifty Five Dragons, and The Civilized Gentlemen taking their victories 2-0. More Guns Than Roses, matched up against the disqualified Car Crashed, made it out of this week with a bye. Moving forward, all future matches against Car Crashed will be automatically changed to 2-0 in favor of the opposing team.

Vermilion, who debuted an updated roster this week, and returning champions Rank Fifty Five Dragons are setting the bar for first place. The Civilized Gentlemen took a win against Orange Logo, putting them in a close third place position.

MATCH DAY 5 NA
Astral Authority 2 - 1 Final Form
Spoookie 0 - 2 Never Lucky
Team PZ 2 - 0 Gems N Tonic
Ez Pz Lemon Squeezy 2 - 1 eDream

Our top North American teams kept their leading positions, but not without a fight. It seemed promising for Final Form as they managed to steal a round with an epic lord kill, but frontrunners Astral Authority did not allow their spot on the leaderboard to be taken.

In the match of the week, Team Ez Pz Lemon Squeezy was given a run for their money by the eDream underdogs, but were able to come back in the final round and secure themselves a victory.
