The second season of the ESL S.K.I.L.L. Pro League concluded today in the ESL studios in Cologne, Germany. More than €28,000 were on the line when reigning champion PENTA Sports took on its three challengers Planetkey Dynamics, EURONICS Gaming and 31337 eSports, but in the end there could be only one winner...
Semifinal one: EURONICS Gaming vs. 31337 eSports
Opening up the day, we saw EURONICS and 31337 clash in the first semifinal. EURONICS, who finished first during the group stage, came into the game as a something of a favorite. EURONICS Gaming took the series over 31337 after two thrilling and kinda fast games by 2-0 and advanced to the final as the first contender for PENTA’s title.

Semifinal two: PENTA Sports vs. Planetkey Dynamics
The second match of the day saw PENTA trying to defend their title - but first they had to face Planetkey Dynamics. With the second and third placed teams from the group stage meeting again, we got to see the full three maps after the first two maps being ended in sudden death. PENTA Sports was taking the upper hand on the third map and winning by 2-1 to clash with EURONICS Gaming, with the title on the line.

The grand final: EURONICS Gaming vs. PENTA Sports
After two interesting semifinals, we got to see EURONICS Gaming and PENTA Sports fight over the title and the lion's share of the over €28,000 prize pool. Showing why they got to play in the grand final, both teams had their time to shine, but in the end PENTA Sports came out on top time and time again. A 3-1 scoreline that doesn’t truly reflecting how even the series was at times, settled this race for the title. PENTA, defending their title in style, underlined that they are still the team to beat!
