The road to the finals
The regular season started with a bang as veteran players Lifecoach, Kolento, and Reynad all managed to secure victories in their week of play, advancing directly to the LAN finals. Argentinian newcomer Kabi also pulled off a surprise 3-0 victory over Savjz in the final match of week three.
Two-time open bracket winner Leadpaint was able to secure a spot in the LAN finals with an impressive victory in his redemption tournament group, earning a ticket to the LAN finals along with powerhouse players Trump, Roger and Ostkaka.
This weekend’s last chance open saw an incredibly stacked field of play across professional, semi-pro and amateur players from North America, but in the end only eight could advance. Defending champion SilentStorm was the first player to make it through the open bracket - his second open bracket victory in Season 2. Kitkatz and Koyuki also secured victories through the last chance open along with a number of notable semi-pro players who are no stranger to the North American competitive scene.
With that said, it all comes down to this: sixteen players, three days, US$25,000. Players will compete through three days of matches, battling their way through groups and playoffs to earn the right to call themselves the winner of the ESL Legendary Series. With World Championship points on the line, the competition will be fierce.
