Over the weekend, the four best teams across North America and Europe traveled to Burbank, California to compete for the title of Guild Wars 2 Season 2 Champions. Team PZ and Astral Authority fought their way through the fierce North American competitors to make it to the Finals, while The Civilized Gentlemen and Rank Fifty Five Dragons dominated the European competition. All four teams proved their talent throughout Season 2 of the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League, and ultimately it was The Civilized Gentlemen who came out on top.
The first match of the day was between the notorious TCG and Team PZ. It was clear that TCG did not come to the finals for anything less than victory, and that attitude carried them to a 3-0 win, with a 200 point lead in the first game.
Team PZ, however, demonstrated the genuine and fun loving attitude we’ve come to expect from them, and kept their positivity throughout the first semifinal

Match two was the most intense of the day, with Astral Authority taking on Season 1 champions Rank Fifty Five Dragons. Rank Fifty Five started off strong with two consecutive wins, but Astral Authority weren’t ready to give up without a fight, very impressively taking game three by just two points.

In the end, Rank Fifty Five reminded us why they were the reigning champions, taking Game 4 and moving on to face The Civilized Gentlemen in an all European grand finals.
While both teams showcased their immense skill, TCG remained focused on the prize and took the series in a convincing 3-0 sweep. The Civilized Gentlemen hoisted the Guild Wars 2 Pro League Season 2 trophy and ended the reign of Rank Fifty Five Dragons.
