The best of British: five reasons to watch the ESL UK Premiership finals

It’s not every day you get to see the best of British esports featured on one of the UK’s largest esports stages. This October, four of the UK’s most talented teams will converge at London MCM Comic Con for the ESL UK Premiership Summer Season Playoffs, fighting for their share of £10,000 (€13,500) and the pride and prestige of becoming our 2015 Summer Champions - it’s going to be one hell of a show.

Whether you’re interested in attending the event live or simply want to watch online, we’ve got five good reasons why this weekend is one to mark in your calendar.

1) A rare insight into the UK’s Counter-Strike esports scene

EZSkins showed the global Counter-Strike scene that UK CS is here to stay after their recent victory against the Australian Renegades back at DreamHack London 2015. However, they’re not the only contenders out there with the potential to emerge onto the European scene. With big names in all of our Summer Playoff teams, it’s only a matter of time before more UK teams start appearing on the European circuit.

Whether you’re a talent scout, esports enthusiast or a bit of a loungeoholic, this is the weekend to get your UK fix.

2) Big names with up-and-coming talent on the commentary team

We don’t mess around when it comes to covering the very best of UK esports. We’ve drafted in some well-known faces from a Major Near You™ to bring the ESL UK Premiership to life!

ESL’s very own Alex “Machine” Richardson will be heading up the analysis desk accompanied by the ever-dashing Henry “HenryG” Greer and the cool and calculated Joe “Munchables” Fenny. Karam “Kyanite” Kabbara and Jack “Jacky” Peters will be commentating across the two day Playoffs, with the big man himself James “Duffer” Duffield holding the mic center stage.

3) Love pop culture? There’s no better place to experience it this October!

The ESL UK Premiership Summer Playoffs are embedded within the heart of London MCM Comic Con, the UK’s largest and most popular pop culture event! Not only will we be bringing the best of British esports to the event, but you can check out talks and panels from special guests from both the big and small screen alongside the popular Games Expo and Vidfest UK stages!

Come watch the finals live and get your comic (c)on!

4) United Estonia’s first appearance at an offline event

It’s been a long time in the making, but United Estonia will be making their first offline appearance as a team here in the UK - and a lot of fans are interested to see how they will perform under pressure. Their most notable achievement thus far has been their victory versus Choke Gaming, taking the third place slot in the Summer Playoffs.

They’re one hell of a wild card and are primed to become the key attraction this October.

5) Loads of goodies up for grabs for viewers on Twitch and live at the event!

The ESL UK Premiership Playoffs broadcast will have heaps of swag up for grabs over the two-day weekend - we’ve got a bit loony with the booty, you could say. We’ve managed to grab loads of cool gear from our partners, including but not at all limited to a NeedForSeat Maxnomic gaming chair, a SoundBlaster ROAR 2 and three crates of Tornado Energy!

Convinced? You can watch the action live throughout the weekend on Twitch.tv/ESL_CSGO from Saturday the 24th October at 10:00 BST (11:00 CEST).

For more information on the competition visit the official UK pro website website, and make sure to follow ESL CS:GO on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest Counter-Strike news.
