The American squad's run as the world no. 1 in Counter-Strike continues after a flawless victory on home soil at the United Center.
Fresh off claiming the $1,000,000 prize for the Intel® Grand Slam Season 2 after winning ESL One Cologne, Team Liquid arrived to Chicago looking to make a statement in their homecoming. With only one map lost in the entire tournament, local fans in attendance witnessed their home team deliver a CS masterclass.
French rosters G2 and Vitality came into the tournament looking for a rematch against Liquid after the NA squad defeated them at the Pro League Season 9 Finals in Montpellier and ESL One Cologne Grand Finals respectively. They got their wish, but Liquid were simply too much to handle and dispatched G2 in the Group Stage and Vitality in the playoffs to meet ENCE on Championship Sunday.
The win means Team Liquid have not only broken their duck when it comes to ESL events in North America, but they've also pulled further away from the rest of the field in the ESL CS:GO World Ranking at number 1 with almost triple the points of 2nd placed Team Vitality.
American fans can look forward to seeing the top team in their region live again at ESL One New York on September 28-29.
