Almost every match went to a Game 5 for an explosive final regular season day of the Halo Championship Series: Pro League Fall 2017 Season. Less than a month away from DreamHack Denver, each team recognized that this last day of competition was absolutely critical to improve their ranks and their morale heading into Finals.
Final Match Day
Following the Match of the Week, OpTic Gaming and Team Liquid faced off in an intense series between two top teams. Both were 5-1 heading into their series, and in the only match of the day that didn’t go to a Game 5, OpTic took down Liquid in four games to earn their sixth win of the season and secure the second place spot in the Pro League.

In the third match of the day, Naventic were looking to end their winless streak against Luminosity Gaming. Despite a valiant effort on Naventic’s part, LG denied them the win in a tense five game-series. LG came out of regular season in fifth place, leaving Naventic in eighth.

Evil Geniuses took on Ronin Esports in the final match of the season. It was the last chance for both teams to earn their second win of Fall 2017. Following a combative series, EG bested Ronin after five incredible games to earn the sixth seed heading into DreamHack Denver.

Match of the Week: Team EnVyUs vs. Splyce
The match of the week brought the undefeated Team EnVyUs up against the DreamHack Atlanta Champions, Splyce. EnVy started things strong on Truth CTF, but Splyce seized their first opportunity to turn things around and capped three flags in a row to win the first game. EnVy responded aggressively to their Game 1 loss to Splyce, who readily matched EnVy’s hostility. Game 2 on Rig Slayer was a close call, but EnVy managed to out-maneuver Splyce to take a hard-fought 50-39 win and bring the series 1-1.
In Game 3 on Plaza Strongholds, EnVy looked extremely cohesive. Splyce looked like they might be able to overcome EnVy’s expert set-ups, but were unable to maintain their lead as EnVy took their second win of the series at 100-82. Splyce weren’t ready to give up going into Game 4. EnVy were fighting hard to end the series, but Splyce fought back to take a 2-1 win on Coliseum CTF to take the series to a Game 5.

After a heated series, the winner was to be decided in a final game on Eden Slayer. The points climbed quickly as both teams sought to end the game as soon as possible. The halfway point of the game marked a turning point for EnVy as Snip3down dominated with the Power Weapons and EnVy racked up kills faster than Splyce could match. In the final moments of the game, Pistola took out Shooter with a well-placed no scope to end the game at 50-39. EnVy concluded their season with a totally undefeated record, earning them the top seed for Finals at DreamHack Denver.
