LCS Forecast: Stormy Super Week to shake up the balance of power?

Another Super Week is here, bringing us six days of the best LCS action Europe and North America have to offer.

In Europe, the fight for the top spots is getting more and more intense. While Alliance, still with only two losses, is clearly reigning over the standings, SK Gaming, Millenium, Supa Hot Crew and Fnatic are all fighting hard to stay in the picture, with this Super Week being the perfect chance for them to shine. Playing four matches, some against their direct opponents in the rankings, will not only deliver a lot of action but also give a good indication of where these teams are heading over the next four weeks.

In North America, the situation is more unclear than ever. All five top teams have been winning and losing almost in sync, keeping three on top with only one win more than the teams behind. LMQ, Counter Logic Gaming, Team Dignitas, Cloud 9 and Team SoloMid are all still playing at almost the same level, and everyone seems to be able to win against anyone. Super Week will bring us five clashes between these League of Legends giants, making the fight for the top even more intense. There’s a good chance we may see the rankings drastically shaken up afterwards, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Thoughts on this week’s lineup

While more matches mean more action, Super Week is hard to predict and might end up bringing a lot of trouble if a team happens to under perform. Splitting your picks across more teams may be a good choice if you predict any problems for your favorite players.

  • Top

Looking at player performances over the last six matches, Kev1n is a hell of a pick. Not only did his price drop to $1,115 but he was also the second-best-scoring top laner in that time frame. The games ahead are an opportunity for Kev1n to show his skill and potentially make him a good choice going into Super Week.

Alternatives: Wickd ($1,340) and his team are playing rock solid right now. He fought back hard proved himself to be the best top laner over the last three weeks. Picking up him or sOAZ ($1,080), who’s started getting back into his Spring Split shape, wouldn’t be a bad move right now.

  • Jungle

No matter whether you look at the last three or six matches, Amazing is on top of the board, and just dropped by $215 to $1,145. Bringing in a lot of assists, he and TSM have had a good time recently. Compared to his fellow junglers, he’s a little expensive, but having almost five more points on average than the next player seems to indicate he’s a good deal for Super Week.

Alternatives: With KottenX ($950) and dexter ($1,030), there are two other options available. Both have given good performances over the last couple of weeks and have the skills to make your pick golden - the final call is yours.

  • Mid

With Millenium’s recent success, Kerp ($1,275) has made himself a very interesting option. Overall, he is only two Fantasy points behind Froggen, but in the most recent games he scored even better than Alliance’s mid laner. For Millenium, Super Week is a good chance to take on SK for the second spot, so if you think their team has what it takes, picking Kerp is a must.

Alternatives: Froggen is still one of the safest picks you can make. With Alliance having a good run at the moment, he’s almost always one of the best-scoring players, and a solid choice. However, due to that he costs $1,485 - quite a lot money for most managers.

  • ADC

With TSM fighting back in the NA LCS, WildTurtle ($1,035) has played himself back onto the board. Seven points divide him from Doublelift, making his lead over the last six play days even more impressive. During Super Week, he could get you a good bunch of points as your ADC.

Alternatives: If you’re prepared to put a lot of budget into your ADC, Tabzz ($1,645) is the most solid choice you could make. The best scoring ADC of the Summer Split so far, he’s definitely worth the bucks if you’ve got them. If both of these options don’t suit you, Vasilii ($1,180) could be a pick for you. Having had a good streak lately while scoring very well against big opponents, this week could be a good one for him (and you).

  • Support

When Gleeb ($1,080) was picked up by TSM, there were doubts about whether he’d be able to adapt to the pace of the NA LCS quick enough. With half the split over, he’s sitting in the second spot in the overall support rankings, and is less than half a point away from leader YellOwStaR. Together with WildTurtle, he could score big for your team if you trust in TSM.

Alternatives: While Fnatic is still looking to regain their old strength, YellOwStaR ($1,220) is still the best-scoring support across the board - he’s had ups and downs, but is still a solid player to rely on. If you got the money, Nyph ($1,465) could be a perfect fit for your team, as could any of the shining Alliance roster.
