Having jetted across half the globe, Intel Extreme Masters Singapore brought the world a weekend of world class StarCraft II and League of Legends action. With StarCraft II names such as Mvp, Scarlett and Bomber in attendance and League of Legends superstars CJ Entus Frost and Invictus Gaming eager to prove themselves, the event boasted all-round competition at the highest level. Here we take a look back at what was a brilliant weekend of competitive gaming.
The champions of Asia: HerO and Invictus Gaming
StarCraft II: herO of the people
Having struggled somewhat throughout 2013, Kim 'herO' Joon Ho was a dark horse coming into the competition despite being widely regarded as one of CJ Entus' best players. The Korean national qualified for just one Premier League within the World Championship Series this year, only to be kicked out in the first round. - A win in Singapore seemed unlikely, but the soft-spoken Asian somersaulted his way through the competition, beating fan favourites Choi 'Bomber' Ji Sung, Jung 'Mvp' Jong Hyun and Park 'DongRaeGu' Soo Ho with ease before outclassing Kang 'San' Cho-Won in the Finals.
We caught up with herO after his win, take a look at the interview here. Also, don't forget to check out the interviews with DongRaeGu and Bomber.
League of Legends: Invictus Gaming are victorious!
With seven top-three Premier Tournament finishes this year, Invictus Gaming comfortably qualified for Intel Extreme Masters Singapore. Having to go up against the Taipei Snipers was something that had fans worried but iG convincingly defeated the Taiwanese only to then have to face Korean powerhouse, CJ Entus Frost. As the two Korean Teams faced off in the finals it was iG that came out in front, taking the first two decisively to win the tournament. At IEM we caught up with MaKNooN and SGS Chawy - don't forget to check out their interviews!
