The appetizer for the Intel® Extreme Masters Katowice CS:GO Major 2019 Grand Final will feature some of the best players in the world fighting for map immortality on March 3.
Eight teams of two players will drop onto the main stage in Counter-Strike’s Battle Royale game mode to get the party started before we crown the new Major champions. The best players, talent and influencers on the ground in Katowice will also help make this showmatch an unforgettable experience for the fans.
The winning duo of this best-of-two series will be immortalized in the Danger Zone map. CS:GO fans can expect an homage similar to Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev’s commemorative graffiti on Cache’s B bombsite following some mesmerizing AWP play at the ESL One Cologne 2016 Major.
The crowd in Katowice will also have a local squad to cheer for on Sunday. We will host a Polish influencer showmatch earlier in the week, with the best performers earning a spot in the main event.
We are excited to bring this new format to the biggest stage in competitive CS:GO and showcase the game mode’s latest updates. Valve’s recent announcement of new squad autofill matchmaking options and, most relevant to us, improvements to the spectating system will surely push Danger Zone to new heights.
