After two days of group stage matches, the League of Legends World Championship moved to the Spodek arena in Katowice to play its decider matches in front of the passionate crowd. Four teams battled it out to join Flash Wolves and ROX Tigers in the semifinals and to continue their run for the coveted IEM trophy.
Group A decider
The two teams remaining in group A were H2k and Hong Kong Esports. The Europeans were heavy favorites to take the series but, as Jankos said himself, they trolled a bit and didn’t give the match 100%, which lead them to losing game one. After this wake up call, however, H2k and especially the home crowd favorite, Jankos, stepped up their game and dominated the remaining two games, taking the series 2-1 and moving onto the semifinals where they will face Flash Wolves.
Group B decider
The group B decider match was a real treat for EULCS fans as two top European teams, G2 Esports and Unicorns of Love, fought for the last remaining semifinal slot. The teams have just played each other in the LCS with G2 taking the win and his series was no different. Although many called it an ‘’EU fiesta’’ the result is still the same - G2 move onto the semifinals where they will face ROX Tigers.
