ESL One to return to Frankfurt for more top-notch Dota 2 competition in 2015

Earlier this year, ESL One Frankfurt made news around the world, with the massive Dota 2 event crowning Invictus Gaming as recipient of the tournament’s title, trophy and thousands of dollars in prize money.

The event was a great success: 12,500 Dota 2 fans poured into the 2006 World Cup stadium each day to watch the action live, with nearly 4 million people tuning in to watch the action on streams and over 500,000 simultaneous viewers following the games online.

As such, we’re thrilled to announce that ESL will once again be returning to the Commerzbank Arena to host yet another premier Dota 2 tournament!

ESL One Frankfurt 2015 is coming!

Next year’s installment of ESL One Frankfurt will take place from June the 20th to the 21st 2015, and will see eight of the world’s best Dota 2 teams from Europe, America and Asia battle it out for their share of a whopping US$150,000 prize pool.

Ulrich Schulze, managing director of pro gaming, said of the announcement:

“After ESL One Frankfurt 2014, we just could not pass up the opportunity for a repeat performance in 2015. We received countless messages from fans and have taken all their feedback into account to make 2015 an even better experience for both fans and players. The Commerzbank Arena is such an iconic stadium - we are very excited to be going back and definitely have a few tricks up our sleeve for returning fans!”

Qualifiers for ESL One Frankfurt will begin in early 2015, and will see six teams qualify for the main event where they will also compete alongside two invited teams. Following our successful cooperation during the previous ESL One Frankfurt event, the qualifiers will be ran in association with joinDOTA.
