ESL expands to SEA with new regional office and further Dota 2 events

In an effort to further develop the esports scene in Southeast Asia, ESL is happy to announce the opening of a brand-new regional office in Singapore. Having already hosted two major events in the SEA region, ESL One Manila 2016 and ESL One Genting 2017, ESL aims to add two more ESL One Dota 2 stand-alone events to the repertoire in 2018. The expansion to the region will help solidify ESL’s commitment to develop passionate esports communities around the world by giving them a platform to compete at the local level, as well as the chance to witness large-scale competitions.

The new Singapore office will be lead by freshly appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer, Sebastian Radu, who will take the lead on all operational and strategic efforts in the region. With over a decade of experience in the field of developing esports around the world, he is looking to expedite the reach of esports in the region by giving the enthusiastic SEA gaming fans the roaring, live events they deserve, while also furthering their chances to compete in local tournaments themselves.

Sebastian Radu, ad-interim CEO at ESL SEA, is looking forward to build on the legacy.
“ESL’s mission is to bring esports to every corner of the world, and create legendary esports moments wherever we go. With this strategic expansion, ESL is committing to bringing the best of esports to South East Asia, and to further build on the legacy left by the two successful mega events our company already held in Manila and Malaysia. We’re looking forward to future projects, events and partnerships that will bring us closer to this goal in our mission.”

ESL’s CEO, Ralf Reichert, is excited by the prospect of building up grassroot tournaments in the region.
“ESL is and always will be about building esports: for the athletes, the fans and the aspiring players. Our new regional office will set us up to bring even more global events and tournaments to the region, but more importantly: to help build the local esports communities through grassroots and local championships, which are fundamental to the growth of esports anywhere in the world.”
