ESL is happy to announce that it will be partnering with Blizzard Entertainment to host the 2015 European Road to BlizzCon at the O2 Arena in Prague from October the 3rd to the 4th 2015! Set to feature top-notch competition in World of Warcraft, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm in order to pave the way for BlizzCon, the two-day-long event will pay out a total of US$300,000 in prize money, US$75,000 of which will be awarded during the Heroes of the Storm qualifiers alone.
In addition to all the great esports action, there will also be a free gaming area where attendees can try out other Blizzard titles including the yet-to-be-released team-based shooter Overwatch. The festival will also see a number of community events, cosplay activities and quizzes take place throughout the course of the weekend.
Sebastian Weishaar, senior vice president of international business at ESL, said of the partnership:
“We couldn’t be prouder to be working together with Blizzard Entertainment in order to bring the highest possible level of esports competition to fans both online and offline. Alongside the professional matches, we’re both very focused on adding additional elements to the event weekend and are excited to see what the community has to say.”
Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, said of the upcoming event:
“Having the European Championships for Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and World of Warcraft take place in Prague during the same weekend will make for a spectacular finish to the 2015 European Road to BlizzCon. We can’t wait to see which players and teams distinguish themselves in the competition - and we’ll be looking forward to seeing the battles continue at BlizzCon.”
Information about tickets, streams and more will be released soon, so stay tuned if you want the opportunity to meet and greet your favorite players and personalities in person as well as watch all the matches unfold live!
We hope to see you at the O2 Arena in Prague on the 3rd and 4th of October!
