We are halfway through the regional qualification for the US$250,000 EMS One Katowice. Tonight the next cups in France and the Nordic will kick off with another bunch of teams trying to make their way to the biggest CS:GO event of 2014. Let's take a look at who made it already and who will be fighting to make it tonight!
France: Can Evokate! and Team Mistral make it?
Two big French organisations are still longing for a spot in the regional finals. However, only Mistral made it to the final round of the first qualifier before dropping out. Can these two meet the level their names promise and take the step towards Katowice or will - Worth. It - or Engine-Serv cause another upset with one of the "bigger" teams?
Nordic: Xapso, Cursive and ENCE - Too much for SK?
Dropping out in the final round of a qualifier is about the worst thing that can happen. As this happened to SK Gaming in the first qualifier, one of the biggest names in eSports is still without a spot for the regional qualifier. However, even without the four teams who made it in the first qualifier, the quality of play in the Nordic cup will still be very, very high. Xapso's new team, the Finns from Cursive eSports and ENCE eSports as well as H2k, nine exiled zealots and many more are still there to give them a really good fight on the way to the final four. Might SK Gaming need to take the even harder path to the EU qualifier to make it to Katowice?
Who made it in Poland and the CIS?
No bigger surprises happened in both regions. In Poland, MeetYourMakers including Loord and Hyper took the first spot with ALSEN-Team following. In the CIS, Team USSR finished first after a not very successful start in the first cup. Team Faith finished second and will also take part in the regional finals. This makes it two Russian and two Ukrainian teams so far - the big favorites in both regions are through. Let's see if any new teams can impress us and surprise the established ones over the following weeks!
