The Brooklyn Beatdown is not only bringing Street Fighter 5 to ESL One, it will also play host to the $2,5000 ESL One New York cosplay contest on Saturday, October 1st. The Street Fighter 5 themed contest will be a great chance for cosplayers to show off their SF5 costumes to the world and earn cash, as well as sponsored prizes.
The prize pool distribution will look as follows:
- 1st Place: $1000
- 2nd Place: $500
- 3rd Place: $375
- 4th Place: $250
- 5th Place: $125
- 6th to 10th Place: $50
In addition, there will be an array of sponsored prizes for the contestants, which will be revealed closer to the event.
Rules
As for all ESL cosplay competitions, the ESL One New York cosplay contest will be a craftsmanship competition. Therefore only self made costumes will be allowed into the competition. In addition, no performances will be necessary to earn points from the judges. Instead, judges will be closely inspecting each and every costume inside and out, as well as asking several questions regarding the creation process. Prejudging will be required to compete in the competition.
Admission and registration
Interested cosplayers will have time until Friday, September 16th to sign up for the competition, at which point registration will close. For all registered cosplayers, there will be a number of complimentary tickets available for ESL One New York, which will be handed out on a case by case basis.
