It was up to the fans to decide which teams they wanted to see at IEM San Jose, and after seven days and nearly 40,000 votes, the results are in!
The American LCS will be represented by none other than Cloud 9, who along with TSM have been dominating the American scene for the past two seasons. They collected an impressive 41.7% of the vote, clinching their participation spot ahead of second place Curse. As one of the teams which has maintained a steady line-up post-Worlds and which has stated that they have been practicing regularly in the lead-up to IEM - they will definitely enter the tournament as one of the overall favorites.
Cloud 9 | 41.7% |
Curse | 34.2% |
CLG | 16.5% |
Evil Geniuses | 3.5% |
Team 8 | 2.5% |
Dignitas | 1.7% |
The Europe LCS representative will also be its newest team, in the form of Unicorns of Love, who just qualified via the EU LCS 2014 Spring Promotion tournament. Coming back from a 0-2 deficit in their match against Millenium on the back of the first 2014 LCS Poppy pick, they definitely demonstrated their ability to beat experienced teams. That having been said, they will certainly be a dark horse at IEM San Jose. Yet with a lot of fans supporting them for both name and innovative picking strategies, it will definitely be interesting to see how they perform on the big stage.
Unicorns of Love | 47.9% |
SK Gaming | 37.4% |
Supa Hot Crew | 9.7% |
Copenhagen Wolves | 5.0% |
