The Wild Cards

The Wargaming.net eSports team selected the two wild cards (WUSA and Lemming Train) for the following reasons:

  • WUSA - having performed "exceptionally well" at the World Cyber Games in 2013, the German team captured the attention of event organisers.
  • Lemming Train - sure to be a favourite in the home country, LT is a team that showed some "amazing skill and game knowledge" throughout the European Wargaming.net League qualifiers and finals.

Here's to hoping they make the best of the amazing opportunity! - Don't forget to tell us what you think about these choices in the comment section. - Who would you have picked?

Tournament Structure

The fourteen teams will be divided into two groups:

The first group is comprised of the six teams that scored the most points in their regional games and will automatically advance to the second stage of the tournament.

The second group consists of the eight remaining teams (including the two wild card teams). These eight will have to play against one another with only two of them advancing on to the second stage of the competition.

Essentially, this is how the Grand Finals will be played out:

Important to note is that this is a provisional graphic: the official WGL Grand Finals bracket will be provided at a later date. - For this reason the group stage will look slightly different, but essentially work in a similar fashion.
