The North American ESL One at New York Super Week qualifier kicks off tomorrow

The biggest Dota 2 event, ESL One at New York Super Week, is less than a month away. Eight of the world’s top teams will gather at the Madison Square Garden to battle it out for the ESL One championship and their share of a US$250,000+ prize pool.

Four of the eight available slots went to directly invited teams: Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, CDEC Gaming and Virtus.pro. Two other slots were claimed by the winners of the EU and SEA qualifiers: Vega Squadron and Fnatic respectively. Now, it is time for the North American qualifier to kick off and determine who will represent the region alongside Evil Geniuses.

The teams

Four of the participating teams have been pre-seeded into the second round of the qualifier: compLexity, FIRE, Team Archon and Digital Chaos with the current TI champion, Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling on their roster.

The first round of the qualifier will come down to the following matchups:

  • Boreal Esports vs. Team Imagine
  • Union Gaming vs. BRB
  • No Broodmama vs. ROOT Gaming
  • paiN Gaming vs. Cloud9
