In March, the ESL South East European (SEE) Championship kicked off it’s first official season with the qualifiers that saw 4,000 participants from the six regions trying to get on board for the group stage. Now we are about to enter this second stage, getting closer to the finals at the East European Comic Con, taking place in Bucharest on the 9th and 10th of May.
Divided into four groups of four, the participants in CS:GO, League of Legends and Hearthstone will now fight to stay in the race for making it to Comic Con to win their share of the €5,000 total prize pool. From tonight (16th of April) to the 23rd of April, the groups will see two teams dropping out while the remaining two advance to meet the other winners in the online playoffs.
Alex Coconcea, Tournament Manager of SEE Championship, commented on the group stage:
"Seeing the ESL South East Europe Championship growing so much in the first official season makes me feel proud of what we accomplished so far. The time has come to see who are the best South East Europe teams that can qualify through the group stage into the next phase of the competition. Big names from all regions qualified and all the matches will basically be a fight to the end which I, for one, will definitely tune in to see on our official streams!"
With less than a month to the finals at East European Comic Con, the participants have some tough weeks ahead of themselves. Check out the official homepage to find all the details on the SEE Championship, its teams and the upcoming matches!
