The 2015 WCS Season 1 group stage is well underway, with groups A and B having been played out last weekend in Burbank, CA, in order to give us our first four season final participants. Get an overview of all the latest results below!
Snute, having been touted as the favorite of Group A, did not disappoint on opening day. The Norwegian put on a dominating performance, closing out both of his games in a convincing 2-0 fashion. This left fellow Zerg XiGua and uThermal to battle it out the final decider match of the group, with the former securing his advance to the global Premier League Season Finals after a hard fought 2-1 victory.
Polt may have been the favorite – the same way as Snute was for group A – but it was anything but easy for the Korean to finish on top of the group. Kelazhur especially made a lot of noise in group B, the Brazilian handing TLO a 0-2 loss on the first match of the day before taking Polt to three maps and almost pushing the Korean into the decider match. However, after ultimately falling short and coming so close to upsetting the heavy favorite, he could not prevail in the all-important decider rematch versus TLO, who took revenge for the earlier loss and punched his ticket to the finals instead.
