The ESL German National Championship, formerly known as ESL Pro Series Germany, has always been a good place for German League of Legends players to either showcase their skills or climb the ladder as a team while still being part of the Challenger circuit. Now things look even better in 2015, with ESL and Riot Games having agreed on an even bigger prize pool of €50,000 for this year’s three seasons.
Michael Bister, product manager of the ESL German National Championship, said the following:
“I’m very happy about this big news and want to thank Riot a lot for supporting our efforts in national championships in this fashion. With n!faculty, TTD and other teams, Germany was already present in the Challenger Series, but this step could take of some weight off players’ shoulders and help them focus on their goals. I hope for three great seasons this year and to see more German teams making a step towards reaching the LCS!”
Since the 2011 summer season, ESL and Riot have worked together to support the German scene by forming the ESL German National Championship for League of Legends. Now, almost four years later, the reigning champion Playing Ducks as well as n!faculty and the other six core teams will kick off the next season on Tuesday the 24th of February. With more prize money than ever before now on the line, we can expect to see the teams fight even harder to earn a good rank in the ESL German National Championship.
