The third Call of Duty World League Challenge Division US$25,000 North American event took place this past weekend, and a new winner was crowned: FaZe Clan. FaZe won the Grand Final 3-0, blasting through their Uplink match 20-0, and winning the US$10,000 first place prize. The previous two online events were dominated by OpTic Gaming, but for this one OpTic was unable to get past Round 16.
Cloud9 was the only Challenge Division team that made it all the way to the semifinals, and along the way they were able to take down OpTic and Luminosity. Cloud9 faced FaZe in their semifinal match, and that’s where their run came to an end as FaZe took the series 3-1. Other unexpected outcomes included Dream Team taking down compLexity in Round 16, but they were unable to beat FaZe in the quarterfinals. Panda Gaming also shocked many fans as they defeated Team Liquid Pro in Round 32. Panda also put up a strong fight versus Team EnVyUs but were unable to secure a win in that matchup.
