Last night, mousesports won the second European qualifier for the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship at Katowice. The Germans joins Bulgarian squad E-Frag, who won the first EU qualifier, as well as the eight invited teams to fight for the first ever World Championship in CS:GO with a minimum of US$250,000 on the line.
How the European qualifiers went down
Over the course of the two qualifiers we saw a lot of well known teams take their chance of making it to IEM Katowice. While teams such as ENCE, PENTA Sports, SK Gaming, LDLC or ex-Titan fell during the stages of qualification, mousesports were able to eliminate teams such as CPH Wolves and Team Dignitas on their way to the top. Meanwhile E-Frag came out ahead of teams like Gambit Gaming, FlipSid3 Tactics and others in their qualifier.
They join the Legends from the last CS:GO Major at Dreamhack Cluj and will get to play the cream of the crop in Counter-Strike for a share of the massive prize pool and a shot at the World Championship title.
IEM Taipei and the NA qualifier to determine the last teams
The last two spots in the 12 team tournament are to be claimed by the winners of IEM Taipei and the North American qualifier. While the teams for Intel Extreme Masters Taipei are already set, with Renegades, CyberZen, MVP Karnal and more, the North American qualifier is open for all teams to join. From February 12th to 14th the last spot will be on the line with a nice list of teams confirming their participation already. Counter Logic Gaming, Games Academy, OpTic Gaming, Team Liquid and the new Team SoloMid are already registered and others such as NRG or EchoFox are in the process of joining.
