How far can TCM Gaming take their European Call of Duty World League Stage 1 finals dream?

The European Call of Duty World League presented by PlayStation Stage 1 finals are only a week and a half away, with six teams all set to fight for the tournament’s incredible US$200,000 prize pool. One of these teams is TCM Gaming.

Holding the sixth seed slot, TCM Gaming originally qualified for the finals as NGZB - but now have a completely different lineup. Shane “ShAnE” McKerral replaced Gethin “Geth” Davies, with Gurdip “SunnyB” Bains also replacing Deleo "Zerg" Devitt shortly after.

The team’s performance has been pretty consistent throughout Stage 1 of the Call of Duty World League, with TCM mostly managing to hold sixth place in the standings. However, as Stage 1 progressed both the French and Spanish teams stepped up their game to give them a run for their money, forcing TCM down to eighth place after week eight. TCM needed a miracle - and they got one in the form of a win over exceL eSports, securing them sixth place once more even if only by map win percentage.

With the finals fast approaching, so does the moment of truth - do TCM Gaming have what it takes to come out on top?

Roster

ShAnE

  • Name: Shane “ShAnE” McKerral
  • Age: 23
  • Role: SMG Objective
  • Preferred Weapon: VMP
  • Preferred Specialist: Heatwave
  • Twitter: @TCM_ShAnE

One of two players to have competed at every single domestic EGL event, ShAnE was part of the first European team to compete in the USA on a full-time basis with TCM, albeit with a different roster. Also one of three British players to team up with the North American James “Clayster” Eubanks for the 2013 Call of Duty Championship, ShAnE refuses to rate his skills higher than those of his teammates despite his veteran status and thrives on the energy of an enthusiastic crowd. Not qualifying for the Call of Duty World League with his own team OrbitGG was one of the most demoralizing moments of ShAnE’s entire gaming career, and he had planned to go job hunting just a day before TCM decided to pick him up. With his enormous experience and tactical skill, ShAnE helped the youngsters of the former NGZB squad to achieve their full potential.

Niall

  • Name: Niall “Niall” Sunderland
  • Age: 18
  • Role: AR Slayer
  • Preferred Weapon: M8
  • Preferred Specialist: Heatwave
  • Twitter: @TCM_Niall

At Niall’s first ever event he lost to future teammate ShAnE, leading to him becoming a driving force on getting him on the TCM roster. Naming the letting go of Zerg and Geth as his toughest gaming decisions, Niall still considers himself quite new to the scene despite the fact that he is competing at the highest level. Having already met his goal of coming top six in the Call of Duty World League, can he now get to even greater heights?

Bran

  • Name: Guy “Bran” Branley
  • Age: 19
  • Role: Hybrid
  • Preferred Weapon: M8
  • Preferred Specialist: Annihilator
  • Twitter: @TCM_Bran

TCM is the first big organization Bran has represented, but he climbed the ranks pretty quickly coming into Black Ops 3. Despite being one of the lesser known names in the tournament, Bran has definitely shown his dominance and given some amazing performances so far. Since the addition of ShAnE, Bran has really grown as a player - and this shows in his gameplay. With greater solo reliability and a significant confidence boost, he’s proved himself to be a vital part of the TCM lineup.

SunnyB

  • Name: Gurdip “SunnyB” Bains
  • Age: 20
  • Role: SMG Slayer
  • Preferred Weapon: VMP
  • Preferred Specialist: Kinetic Armor
  • Twitter: @TCM_SunnyB

SunnyB was an up-and-coming 800-meter runner before he hit the Call of Duty scene. Having represented the United Arab Emirates at the Call of Duty Championship, his - and ShAnE’s - previous team OrbitGG failed to qualify for the Call of Duty World League. However, both Niall and Bran recognized his talent and brought him on board mid season, where he’s been the team’s number one player to date - since his addition to the team, TCM’s performance has increased significantly overall. For the many curious about the origin of his PSN name: it’s a combination of a nickname his parents gave him at a young age and the first letter of his surname.
