The ESL Arena will be making its debut appearance at PAX Australia this year, featuring some of Australia's best gamers as they battle it out in a range of premier titles including SMITE, Rocket League and Halo 5. PAX Australia is set to take place from Friday the 30th of October to Sunday the 1st of November at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center in Melbourne, Victoria - let’s take a closer look at what’s in store!
Rocket League 2v2 tournament
First up on Friday is our 2v2 Rocket League competition, which will be taking place throughout the morning. 16 teams will battle it out in this popular physics-based game where soccer meets driving in a single-elimination best-of-three tournament.
SMITE Oceanic regional championship
In the afternoon on Friday, Oceania’s top four SMITE teams will play their respective semifinals to see who will be moving onto the following day - the grand final and a shot at AU$65,000 in prize money. Four of Australia’s best teams - Avant Garde, Dire Wolves, SYF Gaming and Integral Nation - have qualified to compete for their chance to represent Oceania at the SMITE World Championships.
The regional championship continues on Saturday, featuring the grand finals as well as the bronze-medal match for the SMITE Oceanic regional championship. Who will stand triumphant and represent the Oceanic region overseas? Throughout the day HiRez Studios’ new release Paladins will also be on show, with community showmatches along with a free play area for your chance to get hands-on.
Halo 5: Guardians, invitational series and community showmatches
To wrap up the weekend, Halo 5 will be taking the stage on Sunday. Two Australian titans - Team Immunity and Exile 5 - will be present at the event to compete against each other and the community in showmatches. Furthermore, the two teams will also face off in a professional invitational series, showcasing exactly what it means to be a top-level Halo competitor.
