Last Monday, the first ESL One Frankfurt European Qualifier kicked off, where sixteen teams vied for a chance at one of the three slots that would allow them to head to Frankfurt this June.
No games from Group A were played this week, but the action in Group B more than made up for it. RoX.KIS went up against two opponents - mYinstanity and Team Dog. Everything was on the line for the Russian team as two losses would almost certainly knock them out of the tournament.
Their first matchup against Team Dog didn't make this easy, and they were defeated 2-0 by the newly created team. Even with their confidence shattered, however, they managed to keep their head above water, and next went up against mYinstanity, formerly known as ONE. While the series was close at times, RoX.KIS ultimately managed to defeat their opponents 2-0.
The teams went head to head and the series was closer than expected. After a nail-biting first game, Next.kz gained the lead and Fnatic had to fight an uphill battle to just draw out the series. A great draft and some amazing tactical play allowed them to gain the upper hand and tie up the series.
Next week will be even more explosive than this one. Not only do we have more matches, but we also have some great matchups ahead. The entire week will be filled with games that will determine who still has a chance to go to Frankfurt and who will be knocked out.
