On March the 1st 2015, ESL Play hosted the first ever Shards of War tournament - the kickoff tournament of our community cup series for Bigpoint’s next generation MOBA. Next came a ladder, where participating teams could compete for in-game rewards, and after nine great community cups Shards of Wars started its own Go4 series.
However, despite weekly cups offering a prize pool of €350 and the imminent launch of monthly finals which will see the top eight teams compete for an additional €900, Bigpoint are looking to take the Shards of War esports scene even further - to gamescom 2015.
Shards of War goes to gamescom
gamescom 2015 will be the site of an offline tournament where eight of the best teams go head to head in order to compete for the biggest prize pool in the history of Shards of War. A strong step towards furthering the game’s professional esports scene, ESL are happy to be hosting both the tournament at gamescom itself and its qualification together with Bigpoint.
The eight participating teams will have four chances to qualify for the tournament:
- Top two teams from the Go4SoW #1 (May 2015)
- Top two teams from the Go4SoW #2 (June 2015)
- Top two teams from the June community ladder (June 2015)
- Top two teams from the Shards of War Battle of the Shards qualifier (June 6th 2015)
All qualified teams will be given gamescom tickets and brought to Cologne in order to participate in the tournament, with board and lodging also to be paid for by Bigpoint.
