This weekend, the ESL studios in Cologne will play host to the S.K.I.L.L. - Special Forces 2 grand final as part of the ESL Euro Series. Having started in June, the EES has not only seen the players put everything in but also the community, with an additional €2,000 raised for the existing €10,000 prize pot via the sale of Summer 2014 shirts bought by players supporting the competition.
The new prize money breakdown is as follows:
- First place: €5,250
- Second place: €3,250
- Third place: €2,250
- Fourth to eighth place: €250
What’s to come this Saturday?
With everything on the line, we’re now heading towards the grand final, with Death.Energy and Senpai to clash to determine the first winner of the ESL Euro Series. As the tournament was played in a double elimination bracket, Death.Energy starts 1-0 in this grand final, which means Senpai is coming in as the underdog. However, after losing the semifinal to PENTA, they turned things around, winning three more matches in the lower bracket to join Death.Energy in Saturday’s grand final.
Johan Godderis, specialist league operations at ESL, said of the grand final:
Death.Energy are somewhat the favorite here as they managed to stay undefeated the whole season through, only dropping one map to PENTA in the upper bracket final. Senpai also played a very good season until the upper bracket semifinal and their knockdown by PENTA. However, coming back with a big run and payback in the lower bracket finals really brings a big story here.
I'm looking forward to a series which could go either way. Let’s have a nice day, enjoy some awesome matches of S.K.I.L.L. and celebrate the end of the very first season!”
On Saturday at 15:00 CEST, we will finally get to see who will take the throne. With only a few tickets for the event left, you’d better hurry and grab yours sooner rather than later. Come to Cologne, watch the matches, meet the players, developers and ESL staff and enjoy free drinks and snacks. If you can’t make it to the ESL studios, don’t worry - just make sure to tune in to ESL TV so you don’t miss any of the action.
