Dota 2 meets World Cup Stadium

Constantly striving to redefine the boundaries of what is possible, ESL has upped the ante with their plans to fill a World Cup Stadium in the name of eSports. ESL One Frankfurt will be a Dota 2 event sporting an impressive $150,000 base prize pool, which will be further supplemented through in-game item sales.

Featuring 8 of the world's best teams, It will be held in the legendary Commerzbank Arena which has not only hosted many international music acts such as Michael Jackson, Madonna and the Rolling Stones - but was also a key stadium in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. The stadium can hold up to 40,000 Dota 2 fans making the tournament one of the biggest projects attempted up until now.

In order to provide for exceptional coverage, ESL is happy to announce that it will be partnering with joinDOTA to broadcast the online qualifiers and that commentating legends such as Toby "TobiWan" Dawson's will be part of the team casting the event. Details on the qualification itself have not yet been announced although it has already been stated that select teams will have invitiations extended to them, while the rest will qualify through regional qualifiers.

Tickets will be released in waves, with February 28th marking the first day of public sale. More information can be found on the official ESL One page.
