After a fierce weekend featuring sixteen of the best Halo teams in the world playing for esports glory at the Halo World Championship 2016, Team Allegiance and Counter Logic Gaming were the last two left standing. Both would head to the Finals, and when the dust finally settled, it was Counter Logic Gaming who hoisted the trophy. Here is how it happened:
The first game type of the series was Capture The Flag on Coliseum, which was in CLG's favor as they tend to thrive in objective matches. Much to the surprise of everyone, Allegiance struck first with an early flag cap and kept applying pressure throughout the game. CLG was able to fight back and after a few flags were traded, the teams went into overtime but when time ran out they were still tied. The map was replayed and this time CLG completely dominated the match, winning 3-0 in just over five minutes.

That set the tone for the rest of the series, and Allegiance was not able to recover. CLG won Game 2, The Rig Slayer, 50-22, then asserted their dominance yet again with a 100-15 win on Plaza Strongholds. With their backs against the wall, Team Allegiance came out swinging in Game 4 of Fathom Capture The Flag, and although they were able to establish momentum, the firepower of CLG was too much. CLG won the game, and a world championship, by a final score of 2-1.
