Ever since Origen was voted into the Intel Extreme Masters San Jose proceedings, the excitement has been building. Tomorrow the event will finally kick off at the SAP Center, and the team go up against some of the biggest names in the competitive League of Legends scene. Can Enrique "xPeke" Cedeño Martínez’s all-star roster bring home a European victory?
Of humble Origen
Origen was founded almost a year ago now, and the team has definitely left its mark on the 2015 season. Having come out on top of the ESL MWC Challenge and Gamers Assembly 2015, they also took first place in the 2015 EU Challenger Series Spring Playoffs and a close second against Fnatic in the 2015 EU LCS Summer Playoffs.
The latter earned them enough Championship Points to take the second seed in the 2015 Season Europe Regional Finals, where they qualified to the 2015 World Championship. Drawn into Group D with Team SoloMid, KT Rolster and LGD Gaming, Origen ended the group with a 4-2 record, advancing to the knockout stage and winning their quarterfinal series against the Flash Wolves 3-1 and becoming the first Western team to win a best-of-five at Worlds. However, in the end they fell to eventual champion SK Telecom T1 in the semifinals. At Intel Extreme Masters San Jose, Origen will be starting things off by going into battle against the winner of Team SoloMid versus LGD Gaming - do they have what it takes to advance?
A winning lineup?
With a third/fourth place finish at the 2015 League of Legends World Championship behind them, Origen’s roster is ready to aim for the stars - but will they reach them?
