Two worlds clash at the EPS Spring Finals

This Saturday the ESL Pro Series Germany Finals in League of Legends take place. Four teams made it this far and will now face off in the semifinals and grand finals, deciding who inherits the throne in German LoL from Planetkey Dynamics, who dropped out during the group stage. Tick, Trick & Duck are probably the best-known participants, but they’re not the favorite this weekend.

Challenger Series and more

Tick, Trick & Duck, often referred to as TTD, do a great job of keeping the German flag up in Challenger Series and beyond. Successfully taking part in a number of other tournaments including Go4LoL, the Black Monster Cup and more earned them a lot of spectators. However, within the ESL Pro Series they didn’t quite live up to the level they’ve shown they’re capable of on the international stage.

Only one placement within the top four during the cup stage was far from what one would expect from a team that’s playing in the Challenger league and beyond. However, in the group stage they did live up to expectations, and won the double tournament group with two clear wins to advance to the finals.

The team to beat in Germany

The big favorite so far is known by another name. Throughout all the stages of the Spring Season, n!faculty have been the dominant force within the ESL Pro Series. Winning four of the five cups and only having been stopped in the semifinal of the one they didn’t win gives a pretty clear message. With Planetkey Dynamics out of the race, n!faculty overtook the position of the one key team they had to beat. In the group stage they went right through with two wins in a row to be the other top seed in the semifinals.

Who will make it?

This Saturday these two different worlds will clash in the Grand Final as both of these titans finished their groups in first place. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top as both teams appear to have different focuses. Will TTD, the more internationally focused team, take the ESL Pro Series by storm or can n!faculty keep their outstanding performance in the EPS going to take the title that they worked so hard for home?

On Saturday, Jason Kaplan will bring you both semifinals and the Grand Final live on ESL TV. Tune in to the matches from 13:00 CEST to make sure you don’t miss the winner taking home the trophy!
