Season One America and Europe WCS champions crowned

The first Season Finals for both the American and European World Championship Series 2014 got off to a great start with a showmatch between the two regions. After that, it got right down to business with WCS Europe, crowning the Jang “MC” Min Chul Season One champion before switching over to WCS America to see Ko “HyuN” Seok Hyun take the title. But first…


 

Europe vs. America Showmatch: ReDeYe secures victory for Europe

With Kevin “RotterdaM” van der Kooi and Shaun “Apollo” Clark as WCS America and WCS Europe team captains respectively, the two regions prepared to square off against each other ahead of the World Championship Series Season One Finals. The team lineups were constantly changing, with MMA stepping in for Team America (!) and ReDeYe for Team Europe (among many others). But one thing remained constant: fun. WCS Europe: dry spell ends for the BossToss

No European World Championship Series titles for Jang "MC" Min Chul. Until now. The series went back and forth, first 1-1 then 2-2, but eventually the Protoss pulled out ahead, beating the Terran legend to take his title and the trophy!
 

“MC came into the series with a question mark above his head. But MMA knew exactly what to expect from his opponent going into this final, which would naturally give him a strong advantage. However, as MMA felt comfortable, thinking he had his foe figured out, MC was able to change gears throughout the series, making it all the more difficult for MMA to predict his moves. From a 2 base assault to start off the series, to then focusing more on the longer game, MC dictated the pace of the finals, and thus claimed his revenge and the WCS title.”

WCS America: for the Swarm!

Another ridiculously close series, this time in WCS America to finish off the first season. Finally finishing 4-2, Ko “HyuN” Seok HyuN took his first WCS America victory.
 
“HyuN came into this tournament off of a very rough end with his team in 2013 and was considering retirement. I couldn’t be more proud of the result he brought. He’s known for his roach hydra play, but his ability to win was heavily dependent on a wide variety of playstyles to handle whatever Oz could throw at him. Oz played quite wel,l but HyuN has had too much momentum going for him to be stopped here.”
