Blizzard's World Championship Opening Weekend to happen at the ESL America studios!

With two days simply not enough to contain all of this year’s BlizzCon eSports action, Blizzard will be holding a special World Championship Opening Weekend from October the 31st to November the 2nd at ESL’s studios in Burbank, California!

There the first rounds of the StarCraft II World Championship Series  and Hearthstone World Championship as well as the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship global finals will be taking place. Everything will also be being streamed lived from the respective World Championship Series, Hearthstone and World of Warcraft Twitch channels, making sure that nobody need miss a scintillating second of the action.

After the epic World Championship Opening Weekend is over, the global finals for each game will continue at BlizzCon 2014 on the November the 7th and 8th.

Tournament details and schedules

StarCraft II World Championship Series 2014 Global Finals
Prize pool: US$250,000
Schedule: Saturday the 1st of November from 10:00 to 22:00 PT (19:00 to 07:00 CET)

Here the top 16 players in the WCS global standings will be seeded into a single elimination bracket, with eight of these players advancing to the round of eight at BlizzCon on the 7th of November. However, it’s not over for the eight eliminated players as they will still get a chance to take the stage as part of a series of special StarCraft II exhibition matches at BlizzCon. With US$250,000 on the line, however, competition is bound to be fierce.

World of Warcraft Arena World Championship
Prize pool: US$250,000
Schedule: Friday the 31st of October from 12:00  to 18:30 PT (21:00 to 03:30 CET)

The World of Warcraft Arena World Championship will see eight three-player teams compete for their share of a hefty US$250,000 prize pool. Each of the two groups will play three matches each, with the two winning teams advancing to the round of four to be played at BlizzCon on the 7th of November, where the other two round of four teams will also be decided.

Hearthstone World Championship
Prize pool: US$250,000
Schedule: Sunday the 2nd of November from 10:00 to 22:00 PT (19:00 to 07:00 CET)

16 players will be divided into four groups, with the results of their matchups determining which four players will advance to the round of eight at BlizzCon, which will play out on the 8th of November. BlizzCon will also be where each group’s deciding matches are played, so everyone has something to play for regardless of the World Championship Opening Weekend’s results.
