On the 5th of August, the ESL arena at gamescom 2015 will see Activision and ESL joining forces for a brand new look at Black Ops III, the latest installment of the Call of Duty franchise to be released on November 6th. Eight world-class players will compete in showmatches in order to showcase the multiplayer and esports features of the game.
The players
The following professional Call of Duty players will be taking part in the event:
The format
The format of the showmatches will be based on the NHL all-star drafting system, meaning that the two team captains, TeePee and Kivi, will pick a player one after another until both teams have four players each in total.
Talent lineup
The on-air talent for the event will be as follows:
- Host: Scott Lowe, communications manager at Activision
- Commentator: Matt “MrX” Morello
- Commentator: Clint “Maven” Evans
The talent team will also be accompanied by the following special guests:
- Jay Puryear, brand director at Activision
- David Vonderhaar, studio design director at Treyarch
